Our bodies are made out of plastic and suffering

Don’t turn away – look closer. This is what we humans are doing to the planet.

Not only is the image of the poor sea turtle deformed by the plastic ring it got caught in as a youngster one of the most disturbing things I’ve seen in a very long time – it’s also a fitting illustration to the post over at Our Descent into Madness about the plastic litter that fills our oceans, damaging the wildlife in process. I’m getting more and more convinced that the far best thing for the earth would be if Homo Sapiens Sapiens grew extinct in the next hundred years or so (or perhaps sadly more realistic – went through a serious population bottleneck). We’re by far the worst invasive species to ever hit the planet, and the words of Agent Smith feel more and more relevant for each day…

  1. Very sad, very true.

But we aren’t dead yet. We need to keep fighting to do better and repair the harm we’ve done, right through that last hour.

Humans have a tremendous power that has been horrifically misused (obviously). Maybe I’m just in a rare good mood today, but I think it’s possible to point that power in the opposite direction, and maybe have effects as enormously good as we’ve previously had enormously bad.

    Thanks for the link.

  2. You, Hitler and the facists of the Green Party…

Thats why I am boycotting disposable plastic products. Each month I give up some nasty plastic products and source sutsainable or biodegradable alternatives- http://www.plasticisrubbish.wordpress.com
